Sunday Drive

Well I decided to take a Drive up to the Joseph Smith Memorial this weekend. I figured I have been here over a year I should probably check it out. It is a pretty time of year for a Sunday drive anyway. It was a nice trip. Saw the Monument the old Mack house foundation, and took a hike up Patriarch trail. I almost got lost on the way down. It was getting dark and I missed one of the arrows and ended up in the middle of the woods. But I wasn't worried. I had my iPhone with its Compass and Google maps. Actually I just back tracked and finally found the trail down. Kind of hard to see when covered in leaves. I was hoping to get some good foliage pics, but I missed the peak in that area. Anyway I took some snapshots along the way. Enjoy.

Quite The Weekend

Well we had a wedding video gig in the White Mountains in New Hampshire this weekend. But this wasn't our usual wedding gig. The bride and groom were mountain climbers so they decided to rock climb to there wedding. In there wedding gown and tux! It was quite the site. It definitely caught peoples attention seeing the white dress against the gray rocks 500 feet in the air! Funnest wedding video gig ever! Anyway when we get some video I will post it. But here are a few pics from the night before. We also passed 4 black bears on the side of the road. Not the best pics but Such beautiful animals. But yeah it was quite the weekend.

The New Set

So I have been building a new studio set for the Public Access TV station I work at. Last week we built the stage. This week I put up a lighting rig I designed using Galvanized pipe. To be honest I didn't know if it was going to work. But once it was put together it worked out great. Better then I expected. Anyway we did have one oops that was stupid moment while building the rig. Here is some video to prove it.

Home Humid Home

Well I arrived back in Vermont around 2 am Wednesday morning to find my room a nice sauna temperature. It is great to be home! I had a wonderful time in Utah/Idaho. I was able to catch up with so many old friends and some mission companions. I am sorry that I wasn't able to catch up with all my friends. My time there seemed to go by so fast.

The best part of the trip of course was the Bear Lake-Family Reunion weekend. This year I finally conquered the stand up Jet Ski and walked away with no carpet burn or bloody gashes! The water was perfect as usual. I think I spent a total of 20 hours just swimming and soaking in the lake, and the best part is no sunburn!!!! Anyway the trip was awesome it was great to see the family! I miss them already. Here are a few pics. The first one is my first vehicle the old 57 Willy's Pickup truck. My dad has pulled the old beast out. I think it has become his retirement project.

Battle Wounds.

So you know how on those CSI shows they match bruising to fists, furniture etc. I don't think they are far off at all. I went riding in Moody Park with Tyler yesterday and on the way down due to mud and a brake malfunction I nailed a tree with my shoulder at a pretty fast speed. About an hour after the ride I noticed my shoulder was really hurting. I found this nice little bruise pattern on it. Looks exactly like the pattern of the bark on the tree. This wound may take me off my bike for awhile, it is pretty sore. Ah who am I kidding? See you on the trails tonight!!!

The Bridge

So as many of you know I have been making Mountain Bike trails in my (Well the McNaughtons) back yard. In making the trails there were a few spots where I had to make bridges to cross some brooks etc. So I took what wood I could find and made myself some crossings. All and all these crossings worked well. That is until I actually took other people on my trails. Long story short. A guy fell hit my bridge and it kind of fell apart! He was a big guy! And yes the construction was a little iffy. My favorite quote for that day was "I am sorry I broke your bridge Jared" All I could think about was a Better Off Dead line " I am sorry your mom blew up Ricky." Anyway so after that fiasco the bridge became even smaller. It was passable but it was slowing me down, and I don't like slowing down! So thanks to Nate and his lumber supply I was able to build a new bridge. It is definitely a lot sturdier. Tyler I just dare you to try breaking this one!!! Here are a few before and after pics.

Mountain Bikes and Beavers!!

Yes I know a strange title. So tonight I decided to go for a ride (as usual) I went to some trails a coworker told me about. There were some pretty fun trails, but come to find out the real fun ones were for hiking only. So I headed over to the actual mountain bike trail, which is basically a road that runs between North Springfield Dam and Stoughton Pond. So I was riding along thinking that the trail was not that fun of a ride, good for endurance with all the ups and downs, but know real thrills. When out of the brush beside me I hear something move and make wierd barking sounds. I look behind me to find a beaver hot on my trail!! I almost wrecked out of laughter. I wish I had a helmet cam to catch the expression on its face. It was like yeah you better keep riding or you have a good gnawing coming your way!!! I actually had to ride back that way and was hoping to see it again, but no luck! But definitely not something you see every day. It was a good dirty ride. Here are some pics.
